Armstrong, Ontario

Canadian Outpost Fishing Camps in Armstrong, OntarioArmstrong and the adjacent Whitesand First Nation offer a full range of modern facilities and services. The combined population is 650. Located northwest of Lake Nipigon, Armstrong is accessible via paved Highway 527, by VIA Rail or by chartered air service to the Armstrong airport. If you are driving, go north from Thunder Bay for about 250 km (150 miles) on Highway 527. The scenic drive should take about 3 hours from Thunder Bay. Armstrong is home to outpost and lodge bases that fly north to Wabakimi Provincial Park and beyond. Namaygoosisagagun (Collins) and Allanwater are smaller aboriginal communities accessed by rail, and are popular starting points for canoe trips.
