The History Behind Malkin's Jam

Malkin's Jam got its name from the company founder, W.H. Malkin. The company was founded in 1896 in Vancouver, B.C., Canada. W.H. also owned a chain of stores called Malkin's Shop-Easy Foods. His grocery stores were known for their high-quality foods and reasonable prices.

W.H. Malkin was popular with the people and was voted in as mayor of Vancouver in 1929. You can find many of the landmarks in and around Vancouver named after him. His company was highly successful, being popular with both the rich and the poor, because of the quality and selection of foods carried, as well as the service and prices. He produced Malkin's Jam to sell both in his own stores, as well as other independent stores. The W.H. Malkin Company was later amalgamated into it's competitor, Kelly Douglas.

The W.H. Malkin Company no longer exists, but its name lives on in Malkin's Jam, and in the chain of stores named after him. Cloverleaf Shop-Easy Foods was given the privilege to export this quality product to the U.S. in 1992. The exceptional taste of Malkin's Jam has American hunters, anglers and campers looking for it on both sides of the border. U.S. Tourists and retailers have known about famous Canadian jams for over 70 years. Malkin's Jam has always been the leader, and has been brought back to the U.S. in case-loads, along with trophy fish and fond memories of Canada.
